Incubation of the white Hare

mechnical object
rabbit’s fur, brass
30x50x25 cm

2007

In many stories (Matrix, Alice in Wonderland, Harvey,..) the white rabbit serves as a guide and symbol of access to alternative layers of reality and different non-euclidean geometrical dimensions. In this installation the rabbit itself is displayed performing a physical condition on an alternative level of its own existence.

The premature rabbit is enganged in a hybrid relationship with an accommodative unit. It suggests an external breeding process of this amorphous furbody. This shows a surreal stage of growth, a glimpse into a timeslice already past that appears like an image of a parallel reality.

Description:
A bubble of rabbit’s fur is connectect to a supporting apparatus, the bubble itself and its viscera move slowly, barely noticable.
