A soft lightpulse oscillating along the total length of the building of the Kunsthalle Wien simulates an artificial cognitive loop. Back and forth - the light neatly coated by a membrane of ivory colored nested drapery is patrolling along the narrow path on the backside of the building. The installation "Simulating Intelligence" by Judith Fegerl discusses the infinite and yet senseless machinic circulation, autistic processes, productivity and the machine's emancipation from it's creator. The light oscillation indicates an intelligent awareness powered by and attached to the building itself. By citing formal architectural elements of the Kunsthalle's interior, "Simulating Intelligence" refers to the connection between the building's internal viscera and the external parasite.

Mit einem über die gesamte Länge der Kunsthalle pendelndem Licht simuliert Judith Fegerl eine in sich geschlossene kognitive Schleife, die endlose und zugleich funktionslose maschinelle Zirkulation. Die Lichtinstallation zur Thematik der künstlichen Intelligenz bespricht deren Produktivität, autistische Denkprozesse und die Emanzipation der Maschine von ihren Schöpfern. Die formale Angleichung der Lichtzeile an gestalterische Innenelemente des Gebäudes verweist auf die Verbindung zwischen innerer Organik und externem Parasiten.
