Processual Negotiation

2008

light-installation for the Austrian parliament, concept

64 (8x8) square lightboxes covered with draped white curtains are controlled by two computers playing chess. As the two computers are equal in their performance and strategy, none of them is able to win.
Result of this infinitely ongoing process is a stalemate situation.

This process is being displayed on the „chess field“ of 64 square pixels.
Any trace of value or identity of the field, players or chessmen is erased. Just a monochromatic pattern is evolving in time, attempting to solve the problem, trying to win but constantly failing.
