2006

blackbox, LEDs (green, 16000 mcd), electronic controll,
digital projection

Will-o’-the-Wisp is combining real and virtual optical artefacts of human perception. The person entering the blackbox is a necessary part of the installation and his/her experience is entirely unique.
The bright light of the leds is glaring in the darkness and when switched off a shining circular mark remains on the retina - a so called afterimage, an optical illusion. Simillar pictures are additionally projected via videobeam inside the dark room.
The combination of optical irritation and the virtual mirroring of the organic effect is causing perceptual disturbance within the viewer.
It is a choreographed performance for individual perception.
