laser beam exposures on photographic paper showing unique retinal refractions

“Read Only Memory - Individual Pieces” is a series of unique fotografic copies. A laserbeam scans the artist’s own contact lenses worn for the duration of one day and projects the complex pattern onto photographic paper. This optical drawing differs from the common photograph representing reality as an image. It displays the traces of seeing itself, its mechanical erosion and organic residues on the surface of the lens. In a poetic manner this piece documents the transition from a mass product for correcting ametropia to an object with individual characteristics.
