Thermographic
pictures of human body deformations.
Due to the temperature-scale at the bottom of the picture, the images
of these deformated people seem real.
The question of authentity of the displayed images arises. The use of
apparently unbetrayable measuring instruments for documenting irregularities
persuades us to believe what we see. But on the other hand there are distrust,
doubt and suspicion.
Fantasy, curiosity and the fascination of the unknown - the different
- the uncanny (S. Freud) are being stimulated.

People
who are kind of different to the mass tend to hide their specialities
in favour of not being conspicuous. But who ist hiding his or her
differences? Are they detectable? Who is living among us and are we able
to realise it, if we are talking to a special person?
Hide and Seek with thermographic imaging
equipment.
The thermographic camera uses the reflections of infrared emittions to
draw a picture of the available scale of temperature.
An actor prepaired with infrared emitters underneath his clothes moved
among the visitors of the exhibition. Soon people realised, that there
was a person, whose image on the thermographic projection-screen differed
from theirs.
They started looking for the person to identify who was attached to the
revealing signs.

In
man versucht zu glauben, was man sieht.
was”.
